I read Black Boy as an academic book for my 'A' level examination back home in Ghana about 14yrs ago. The book break the ice in me to be confident to tell my story. The funny thing was that in the school of about 750 students we had only one copy of this life changing book. we have to rotate the book among all the 'A' level liiterature students. I had the chance to keep the book for only 3 days. With in this period I have to finish reading, make my own notes and prepare for the GCE'A'level which was less than three weeks away. Rgardless of this short time the content of the book has stayed with me ever since. Last year when I was publishing my first book I was looking for that book to read again just to simulate my thought.

What a surprise!
I also had just finished reading Black Boy during January.
I must say I completely agree with your article 100%. Wright's use of language and the way he describes his life events surely gives us a detailed picture in our minds of what is happening and how he's feeling.
I must say I admire how you use what you learned from reading Black Boy and using it to apply to your life. I should learn to do the same.
You're an inspiration
Thanks and God bless.
